Point In Time Count and Housing Inventory Chart

Vermont’s Annual Point-in-Time Count of people experiencing homelessness, sheltered and unsheltered, will take place place on the night of Wednesday January 24th to 25th, 2024.

Each year the Chittenden County Homeless Alliance joins communities across Vermont and nationwide in conducting a Point In Time Count.  The “PIT Count” is a count and survey of all individuals and families experiencing “literal homelessness” in Vermont.  The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) considers individuals and families “literally homeless” when they live in a place not meant for human habitation (such as a tent, a vehicle, or on the streets), or in an emergency shelter, in transitional housing, or in a hotel paid for by a government or charitable organization.  Knowing how many people are homeless in Vermont helps us to provide better programs and services.

We have two PIT Count Committee and Outreach planning meetings left before the PIT Count!  Please join us in person or by Zoom.  (We offer stipends to folks with lived experience of homelessness – please contact Marcella Gange mgange@burlingtonvt.gov)

Wednesday, January 17th 2:00pm to 3:30pm – Burlington City Hall 3rd Floor Champlain Room  & Wednesday, January 24th 2:00pm – 3:30pm – Burlington City Hall 3rd Floor Champlain Room
